I am trying to find an anti depressant that will work for me...and it is very frustrating!!! I have taken lexapro (good but gave me anxiety and heart made my heart race, couldn't do stay on it), Zoloft (pretty much the same and speed me up a little too much), also Celexa ( I actually like this one but had awful night sweats...)
I went to see a doctor today and they put me on Effexor...the generic is even crazy expensive....I am not sure if I even want to get it filled, after reading about some on the side effects on here..Anyone have any advise?? I do not think these doctors know what they are talking about half the time. I mean if you have never been on a drug how do you know what is best...I know everyone varies but I just want to find something to help with the depression without all the awful side effects and that won't make me go broke!!!
Please help...

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

Wellbutrin.
It helped me A LOT for 18 months.
fortunatley i get a three months supply of effexor 150 mgs for only 20 where i work so i am fortunate and it helps to cover the seroquel as well which is very high and now they have me on provigil to help me start a regimen of getting up everyday at the same time without the groggines provigil as no generic so last month thirty day supply with health inusurance was 56.00 dollars alone which i have heard that ritalin is comparable so im thinking of asking the doc next time what is the difference but i hope this helps and God bless Amber
me im scared to come off but right now no need it is working but i cant imagine coming off so please read on it before starting seriously not to scare but for awareness Best of luck
Again thank you all for your advise and I am bad about stopping my meds cold turkey....is it worse than all the others with withdrawl?? But atleast I know not to do that with this one....
Well seee, guess I am starting it tomorrow
As for quitting cold turkey on meds. is not advised.. It's best to taper off.
cold turkey can really cause adverse side affects of withdrawal. I would not recommend doing that.
I had taken effexor and it was helpful, for quite a while.
so im not on any anymore, docs wont prescribe anything :/
Paxil made me more depressed to the point of suicidal, and Trazadone gave me a eternal male erection that would make any woman very happy.
