My bf has been drinking again and got hit by a car mirror while riding his bike today. Not sure how injured he is and he won't go to the hospital. On top of that he is suicidal. I call his mom for advice and she says call his therapist. He has only seen this lady once in many years so what good can she do over taking him to the ER? He is flipping out over the idea of me calling an ambulance so I won't. I don't seem to be able to convince him to go to the hospital...he said give me 2 hours. I guess I just have to let it be. But his words of it will be all over tonight are blasting thru my head. Not only is he an alcoholic he is bipolar too. I'm so scared.

Would you rather have him alive and mad at you for calling an ambulance or not have him at all? Sounds like he needs some help right now.

My landlord is a police officer and he told us to report the hit and run so they are on the way over. If I can before my bf hears I will mention his suicidal threats.

I am safe. He is in the falling apart stage. A counselor is going to be coming out here later tonight to talk to him. It's hard watching someone you love suffer.

I had to call the police on my mother once. There were a lot of harsh words but at least I knew she was safe. Don't feel bad about protecting the one you love. Sometimes it means protecting him from himself as well. Hugs!

from a mother who lost a son to suicide just 5 months ago, believe me when I say to you, it's a pain that will never heal you just learn to live with it. Do not find out the hard way why suicide does to those left behind.. he is calling out for help.. get him the help he needs. The choices you make right now determines where he is going to be standing tomorrow.

My parents have called the cops on me before because I was locked in the bathroom with a knife & throwing a bunch of stuff. Sometimes I feel like they did it more out of anger since I was throwing their stuff than worry but that's just my take on it. I know they were probably worried too. You need to do what you need to do. All I remember is that I was spiraling out of control & it helped to be put in a place where they could help me. I hope your bf gets that help.
