Well, I know that everything said with a British Accent sounds so much better and prettier, so when we were busy figuring out how to write the date, we must have felt "less then"....(my play on words)

I can see how it evolves from the language used when telling someone the date. It could be January 12th as easily as it could be the 12th of January.
