Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I'm trying to have a positive attitude, especialy around others but it's hard. My brain seems to naturally go back to focusing on something negative. My life really isn't that bad. I have loving, supportive friends and family and yet I remain depresed, sad and down. Ifeel bad for those around me. They deserve better.

That's depression for you. We can feel depressed no matter how much or little we have. Our brain also gets sucked into negativity. I would say keep on trying being positive. It's like trying to break a bad habit. Breaking out of the negative thinking takes time and effort to overcome it so don't get so discouraged if things don't change quickly as you'd like. It will gradually change in time. Hang in there!

Thank you Blue Yonder. I will keep trying.

Don't feel bad for those around you. They are adults and can take care of themselves. You are what matters honey. You may feel that they deserve better, but so do you. I wish you knew how important you are and how much you are loved. Hugs GB

Depression affects those around us in different ways. There may be some around you who don't seem to understand. Many of those people do, they just don't know how to react. Unless a person has ever been stricken with severe clinical depression, it can be a difficult condition to get their head around. I believe that the best way to handle this is to praise them for their support and back up your feelings about your condition with medical reports.

Thank you Lance. I will take your advice.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...
