Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I believe we all have a place on this earth, things happen for a reason, every being has a right to live and it's up to the individual to try and work it out for themselves?
Lessons need to be learned, and most of them hurt, life's tough!
Unfortunately, it's only 'later'... you become aware, and see how events in your life have effected the decisions you've made and the way you think, constantly altering the path you're on.
I use a yoga relaxation technique, but knees hurt too much to do the classic 'yoga' position, so I just lay down concentrate on each part of my body from the toes, and slowly work my way up the body.
I have'nt read TM book either, let us know what you think..
WHen I found the benefits of 20 minutes 2 times per day, I started doing an hour in the morning before heading out to my stressful job. The effects were amazing on everyone around me and the greater efficiency in my life.
I highly suggest you learn either TM or Ishayas' Ascension as both require no belief, are extremely simple and are proven to be effective for depression, stress, chronic pain, etc. It doesn't matter what religion you are, you will enjoy either of these practices. The added benefit of Ishayas' Ascension is that you can also do it with your eyes open to add to the positive healing effects. I learned Ishayas' Ascension in 1997 when I needed something more to help me throughout the entire day.
As for becoming a Christian, I fought that one tooth and nail for about 10 years. When God closes in on you, you have to make a choice. When he calls you, the choice is gone. Being a Christian has never been about people, for me. It is about my relationship with God.
In fact, I had to fight against my husband, my pastor and church when God called me to Seminary as a Southern Baptist, because "women don't go into the ministry." My only goal was to obey God, and I have never regretted that decision, even though my husband still brow beats me about it. Again, I do not follow people but God!
So maybe don't stereotype people you do not know at all, is my opinion.
Wishing you wellness and peace,
