Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I've know for quite some time that I have depression and anxiety and that I need to take care of myself. But something happened today that completely opened my eyes and made me realize that now is the time to do it. I can't keep putting off. I need to get help.
My depression had been raging since I woke up. I felt really down and out of it and my brain was just super foggy and unfocused. I picked my boyfriend up on break so we could have lunch together and I was driving us around. While driving I kept making really stupid mistakes that I would never normally make, because my mind was so clouded and I couldn't focus on driving like I should. I would make a mistake and two seconds later go, "wait, what the hell did I do that for?" It was literally a product of how down and off I was feeling and I realized that I could have gotten both of us killed, because I wasn't mentally fit enough today to even be behind the wheel of my car.
On top of that it made me think of all the other things that my depression and anxiety effect in my life. Like how it keeps me from enjoying playing with my three year old. Or how I've quit two jobs and am now working in a factory simply because it's easy on my mental illness. And how I am always moody and down and how that probably effects my boyfriend who I recently moved in with. And the way I always bail on plans with my friends last minute and then feel awful when they get upset with me. And now it's caused problems with my driving. It's literally touching all parts of my life and I can't handle that. I kept trying to say "Well maybe after I move and get a new job I'll feel better" or "maybe if I go back to school and start working on accomplishing something I'll be happier" but nothing helps, because the problem is inside of me. There are definitely parts of my life that make it worse and that I need to improve, but the base of the problem is whatever is messed up inside of me. I need to fix that before I can even hope to feel better.
So yeah, it's been an eye-opening day and I hope I stick to this whole plan of getting help. I know I need it.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Gentle hugs, and welcome to our little part of the internet!
