Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

TMS is not a very well practiced Therapy. It was created for use as a Diagnostic Tool for patients with MS, Stroke, Facial Nerve disorders, Spinal Cord injury's, etc. It's used cross-care for Severe MDD (Unipolar Depression) that is Treatment Resistant. But it's relatively new, only been granted license by the FDA since 2008. If your into your 10th Treatment with no change, then you most likely will not benefit from TMS. There would have been a change in your emotional/mental state by now.
With ECT the problem will be, it doesn't last forever and it can't be used as a Therapeutic Treatment, its just not meant to be used that way. I was able to get my life jumpstarted again, but I'm on my BiPolar meds every day, just as I always have been for the last 28 yrs., I see my Pdoc once a month and see my Therapist when I feel the need. I still have to treat my BiPolar Disorder everyday, the ECT was never meant to be the end all treatment, it was meant to do just what it did, get me out of the Suicidal Severe Depression, back to a treatable, livable, back to work, back to being mom, state of living.
If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'll try to help any way I can.
Take care,
Kat
