Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
hey all -
i was about to turn off the computer and go to sleep, and then i got inspired to post a short note.
i just wanted to tell y'all that talking to all of you has reminded me of how kind and good human beings can be to each other. i'm pretty darn busy with other stuff on DS, and oftentimes I only get back to the Depression community when I'm told there's a problem or issue...rarely do i get to enjoy the conversation, and explore and meet new people, exchange thoughts, provide support, whatever.
As some of you may know, I hold a soft spot for this particular community, not because it's our largest (which, by the way it is), but because depression is something i continue to struggle with to this day.
Cruising around the community tonight, I see some of the intelligent, thought-provoking, and selfless thoughts that are being posted and my faith in humanity is restored. I have a hunch that many of you don't fully appreciate the power of the words you write, and the kindness you bestow on strangers.Trapped behind our computer screens, we fail to appreciate the comfort that we can send right into the homes of people in need, right when they most need it.
It can seem like we spend alot of time just joking around or focusing on some of the pitfalls of communicating online, but then I stumble onto people that are truly in need, who get 5 responses within 10 minutes and so many hands reaching out to hold them, and I can only smile and feel proud to be here with the rest of you.

What was posted was true and I am sorry you can not see that right now. It seems to me by some of your replies that you are either angry or trying to stir up some trouble. Please feel free to make a thread so you can get off your chest whatever necessary and we can get along together.
Anyway thanks Doug for the post. You did not have to write it..you took the time and I appreciate it.
