This feels like a never ending battle lately..

For those who don't know, I just got out of a long relationship/engagement 4 months ago. We were together almost 7 years and have known each other even longer. We were best friends and since he left I have just been battling my depression more and more. I was depressed prior to the break up, but the break up made it worse. 


So, 8/16 would have been our 7 year anniversary and since then it's been a battle. It doesn't help that I kept giving in and talking to him despite the fact I knew it was a bad idea. It always ended up finding a way to make me feel worse because he's always spending time with other girls and he's in love with someone else who he's just waiting on because she hasn't left her BF yet. (Yes. It's that messed up). 


We agreed to stop talking and now I just feel soooo depressed and lonely. I don't want to do anything and I'm so tired of feeling this pain. I know not talking to him is best and that me talking to him was just a small fix for the moment, but I really hate this feeling of loneliness and depression. I have no motivation to work on areas I need to in order to be happy with myself. Everyone keeps telling me..do stuff for you! Improve yourself so you can love yourself! But when I get home from work (where I barely get anything accomplished) I just want to lay in my bed and not leave.

I really appreciated your post. I am here for you. I am going through a similar situation. I was off and on with my ex for two years. We broke up a couple of months ago. I still often think of him. The break up was for the best because I refuse to keep being a side chick for any man or continue allowing a toxic person into my life. He turned out to be a liar and a fraud. Everything about him I found out on my own. He hid a lot. In spite of all that, I still fell in love with him and he did the same with me. We had good times, but in our case, the good did not outweigh the bad like it should. As women, we often sit and suffer from having leftover feelings for someone that is not giving two shits about us. Just like your ex, he has moved on and even though it's hard, you have to find a way to do it too. I try to do things that bring me peace and happiness. Listening to music, spending time with my son, or even exercising often help. I will tell you that it will hurt for awhile, but eventually your heart will heal. It's okay to feel the way you do, but don't let it consume you. Live is meant to be lived, so don't let it pass you by.

I'm often very hard on myself. I still suffer from infertility and I often feel guilty that I could not give my ex a child that he really wanted. I am spiritual, don't know if you are, but prayer can be powerful. God does not make mistakes is what the old folks used to say. What we re both going through is for a reason. Heartache may seem cruel, but I believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. You deserve to be loved unconditionally by someone who will treat you well. Don't settle for being treated like cheap trash just to have someone. You deserve so much better and so do I. You have to be good to yourself and love yourself before anyone else can. Thank you. I know its for the best, it's just so hard. And it doesn't help that again I have a cold from the stress of everything. But you're right. I need to get out there and learn to live my life again.
