Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Most psychologists do it because they care, it's a hard job to do if you don't. I mean if they were actually like the way they are portrayed on TV no one would go back to them and they wouldn't make a living.
I'm a social worker because helping people is my meaning in life. Sure I've met a few people where I've thought 'I wish you'd snap out of it'. But I'd never say anything like that because I know that I can't always see from that person's perspective and everyone has different thresholds for what they can cope with.
Sometimes you have to keep searching for the counsellor that is right for you. I've had two psychologists and all though I liked the first one I didn't feel like I was getting what I needed out of our sessions. The one I'm seeing now is fantastic!
It depends on the therapist whether they are in it for the money or really care but even the ones that are in it for the money have to care a little bit because they could have chose a less emotionally demanding job.
