Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
If you are in any shape like I am, a bike might not work. I walk as much as possible. I need to lose about 50 pounds but with another medical condition putting the pounds on its a constant struggle.
Can't say that I've found food that helps or not but any exercise will help

Here is a summary of what I have learned there:
Weight loss is not about diets and dieting. It is about recognizing 3 lifestyles. The first life style is the one that got us overweight in the first place. The second lifestyle is the one that will let us lose weight. The final one is the lifestyle that will let us keep the weight off. Too many of us have success with the 2nd lifestyle and make the mistake of going back to the 1st lifestyle.
The lifestyles #2 and #3 need to have both changes in diet and exercise. Weight loss only comes when we expend more energy than we take in by eating. There are charts that help, but in reality those calorie charts are only averages. An exercise that lets you burn 500 calories may burn 600 calories for me, and 400 calories for somebody else. Likewise for food calories. Your body may be more or less efficient at extracting energy from various foods than other people.
The other biggie I learned is that slow and steady wins the race. I dropped 20 pounds pretty quick, then after a spell of time lost another 15 pounds. Now I'm doing the old "lose and gain" with about 5 or 10 pounds. But at least I got out of the obese range and have never crossed back into it.
It is doable, even at the advanced old age of 60+ years old!
Slow and steady, slow and steady.
