Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I went to a neuropsychologist a few weeks ago to test if I had a concussion or brain trauma during my accident. Finally got the results back today.. I definitely sustained a traumatic brain injury and the facilities of my brain that are damaged are cognitive, interpersonal, and emotional (i.e. my emotional reaction and regulation, irritability, memory, executive functioning, etc.). So many mixed emotions with all of it. I'm glad because I feel less crazy knowing that actual parts of my brain are damaged and responsible for how all over the place I feel. I'm also so hurt and sad because this means it's something that's with me for years. Brain damage is said to take a very long time. I'm mad because I don't understand why they wouldn't have scanned my head at the hospital but I've been told that sometimes these things don't show up right away. I just feel so blindsided by all of it, the physical pain was one thing but this mental and emotional pain is unbearable. The doc didn't really give a prognosis, just recommendations and wants to do a re-evaluation in six months. I think it's good news but I'm not really sure.
Anyone have experience or advice?
Thanks
