Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I had a therapy appointment today and my therapist basically told me he's tried everything and there's nothing more he can do for me. Unless I'm able to make changes to my thinking patterns, I'm going to stay stuck, depressed and hopeless. He said I've defeated him.
He said that if I can't make these changes because I'm too scared of what they will bring, then I have to accept that I'm going to stay stuck. And that now I should be trying to just accept I'm going to stuggle with my eating disorder, going to be depressed and going to feel hopeless.
... yeah cause that's going to give me a lot of hope isn't it!
I just don't know what to do now really. Should I stop my sessions with him? He's not been giving me 'therapy' for months now. He's just been more of a support than a therapist. I don't want to leave him though, I'm scared of trying to fight this on my own. I don't know what I'd do without him sometimes.
Trouble is he's got hundreds of other patients who he needs to see and if I can't change then he can't wait for me forever.
I just feel completely hopeless about everything now. I've not had any hope for the last year or so, but having other people tell me it will get easier and it will get better has kept me going. Now that's all just been thrown out the window in one therapy session. He said he's not the one giving up on me, I've already given up myself which is why he can't help me.
I need support and advice guys. My emotions are so mixed at the moment. One minute i'm upset, the next i'm angry, then I just feel hopeless. I can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. Believe that this is it? Believe that this is how it's going to be for the rest of my life and I've just got to accept it? How can I accept it!? The last two years have been awful, I was sectioned last Feb and in hospital this time last year. Accept that? Accept that I could end up in that position again so easily.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
You need to realize, to begin with, that your therapist isn't God. He doesn't know the future. He's just dealing with what you're presenting him with. You may appear to have given up. However, the fact that this upsets you tells me that somewhere buried deep below hte ED is a person who wants to get better.
I figured out that nobody can help me but me. They can offer support and assistance, but that's all. They can't "cure" me. I have to do that. So do you.
If you ever want to talk about this more, feel free to PM me. I doubt the situations are identical, but I've heard the same thing, and it was related to my ED. So, I know the feeling, at least.
You can heal. I think sometimes the hardest part of healing is believing it's possible. Not just wishing, but truly believing that there is a life to live after ED. It's there, you just have to work for it.
Huge hugs to you.

Yes, .. you can.
Hope you find a good one.
