Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So, my second day at my new job was yesterday, and the only other pharmacy technician was off for the day. So it literally was just me, and I still had almost no idea what I was doing. Because it was my second fucking day there. Everyone was really nice and willing to answer my questions, which I did appreciate. But seriously?! My stress was through the roof. Way to almost give me a fucking aneurysm. I'm sorry, but I was not okay with that. I know I made a few mistakes, and a lot of refills did not get processed, which was partially my fault and partially the fault of the brainless vet tech in the front who kept promising same-day refills, which apparently they are NOT supposed to do. They are supposed to say 24-48 hours turnaround time. Fortunately, management did talk to her about that. But I was not okay with any of this. And then I had what should've been a 30-minute commute actually took over an hour because some moron got in an accident on the highway. No I am not sorry for them because they fucked with my commute when I'd already had a rotten day. LEARN TO FUCKING DRIVE. Right now, I'm trying to remain calm before I start my third day and not get riled up. I need to be calm and collected. So DO NOT tell me to be grateful. That makes it worse. DO NOT ask me if I take meds. I do. DO NOT suggest I practice meditation. Tried it, epic fail. I keep telling myself that I've only been there a few days and that I need to give it time. That's what I'm telling myself. But I was seriously shell-shocked by yesterday. DO NOT FUCKING DO THAT TO ME is what I want to say to them. I won't, but I seriously had to restrain from totally losing it yesterday. I'm proud of the fact that I was able to respectfully communicate my stress overload to someone and they helped me. And I learned a lot. So there was some good at least.

I got an email from Kohl's that I had a 40% off coupon for today and tomorrow only. It took me about an hour but I placed an order and got some great deals. I have been wanting a new dress. I like dressing up sometimes. My birthday is coming up and I have dinner plans at a nice restaurant. But, honestly, I'm a little out of control again. I went through this in the fall. I bought...

Has anyone else noticed that clearly speaking and doing things intentionally is liberating because it helps combat the feeling of depression and a sense of hopelessness? Let me share a little more: in my experience, when those who have tried to project a hidden agenda that is obviously not aligned with integrity and well-being, it's best to be firm and speak clearly from self-awareness and...

I do not see anyone or work. One time, someone hit my car while I was driving. My credit card was stolen a few times. I did not even use it. Now I cannot use my credit card.
Also, from what I have gathered from a couple of people I know who used to work in the pharmacy industry, it is a particularly stressful field. I know that is where at least some of your skills and training are, though, so it's tough.
And yes, that's great that you were able to communicate your stress and got help and learned a lot. I guess it will take a little longer to see if the kind of things you experienced on your 2nd day will continue long term.
I remember my first few weeks at my current job were hell. It got somewhat easier. It's still work, though.
I'm sorry your stress is so high. That's really hard to deal with. Hugs. W
Do you turn to your art to alleviate stress?
1. I totally agree with you. Totally.
2. You sound exactly like me except I was worse, .. MUCH worse. I grabbed a corporate exec by his shirt and tried to throw him through a 2nd floor window .. because I was as angry as you were over how fucked up things were. I went through job after job, after job ... good high paying jobs. Had a reputation for 'blowing up' and walking out. I DID have a 'side business' (legal) that invoiced over 1 million $$ in less than 2 years BY MYSELF.
3. This went on for years. There were actually some people afraid of me .. in the work place(s).
4. Went through the side business money on fancy cars, condo, women, fine dining ... travel vacatations, and the rest, I pissed away; long before where I ended up. Homeless in Long Beach CA. No job, sleeping in vacant buildings, showering in roach infested flop houses, and eating at shelters. I spent days on a beach bench .. mostly just staring at the ocean. I can describe the Queen Mary ship to a T. Of course, I had fucked up a marriage YEARS ago. Thank GOD I have no kids.
5. I FINALLY ended up at a Veteran's Hospital in Waco TX. They offered a 'domiciliary' for homeless veterans. First interview with an 'evaluator', I sat in a fetal position in front of her desk. "I am crosswise with the universe. Life is not working for me. I am mad as hell and don't know why. I have no idea what to do." I was (soon) diagnosed with combat related PTSD, complicated with an anger 'syndrome'. After a LOT of therapy, medication, etc we found out how to manage anger. It was KILLING me.
6. Once I learned that anger is ONLY destructive ... it is a primal (natural) emotion but becomes obsolete as humanity evolves. Think about it ... it's there, but very VERY rarely approved of .... ANYWHERE. Mine was erupting EVERYWHERE. Destructive?? Yeah, .. destroying ME.
7. Look at it this way .... we have no control over what others do. If we are going to get mad about every dumbass employer who puts a new hire on the job with NO LEAD available, we are going to spend a lot of time mad. Long line at a grocery check out, and a slow cashier trying to sell lottery tickets to a non-English speaking illegal alien makes everyone 'mad'. Yet, exploding over it? No one else does .. why should I? The problem was ME. I WAS crosswise .. with everything.
I still get angry over 'things' but I IMMEDIATELY laugh it off. It does me NO good, and can really cost me a lot. Working ANY job today is stressful ...everyone is only concerned with the bottom line and they DO NOT CARE what their employees suffer. That's just the way it is. There are no apprenticeships ...anymore .. they are not PROFITABLE. Life is hard, fast, unfair, sometimes frightening, and stressful. Add an anger complex to it and it's a wonder one can make it.
You are very angry. It's clear to me, .. I am a VETERAN of it (among other things). You must minimize it or you will create and provide your own misery which will worsen until you do (or die). It will destroy and destroy ... until you get a harness on it.
I am telling you this in order to be helpful. There is plenty of info from Google on Anger Management. It is popular because there is so much to be angry about. Thing is, ... it doesn't work.
I hope this is helpful to you ... to any degree.
***STANDING OVATION***
You should be proud. It was a rough day.
Anger management take practice and discipline. Anger comes on VERY fast (it's primal). No matter what, .. you really don't need it ... it doesn't do anything for you. Work on it, and see if I may be right.
I do wish you all the best. Hey, you work with animals. That is very admirable.
