Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Remember that life is meant to have it's ups and downs. Don't be discouraged. Never give up or give in.
I have also learned that serving others really help you feel better about your life. You could serve in little ways. Give your kids a gift or take them to a fun park. Give someone a bigger tip than usual. Hold a door open for someone. It doesn't matter how little or big it is.
Give your kids good memories. Build a fort with them. Compliment them for doing their chores. Take turns telling stories. The more you do so, the better you'll feel. Enjoy your life, even in the down times.
Here is a quote from Doctor Who that might help:
"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and... bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant."
- The Eleventh Doctor - Matt Smith
Don't let the bad things in life spoil the good. Bad things may happen but they don't define what life is.
Remember that you are not alone. We are here to listen. Keep writing.
Something I've been doing recently is checking-in with myself and asking if I have any needs that aren't being met, because for me, often anger comes from being unfulfilled. It feels hard a lot of the time because I often don't know what the answer is, but sometimes I find out that I am in need of support, a laugh, a walk, or to scream into a pillow! I try to focus on what I can control and what little steps I can take to meet my needs in the moment. Hopefully it can lead to better habits, self-care, and mental health.
Takes courage to share what's going on, and I hope things get better. You are not alone!
