Yeh. You gotta take it seriously. Even if people are thinking about it it's not really a nice thought.

I never thought I was ever suicidal until someone asked me if I ever wanted to die, and I said 'yeah, doesn't everyone?' ....um, no, not everyone... You can be suicidal w/o making any real plans to go through w/it.

I guess I am asking because for the past couple of months I have talked suicide a lot. I have OCD so I know the thoughts are just part of this disorder, but now I am worried that people might think that my suicidal talk is attention seeking. I have told my therapists that I know my thoughts are OCD related, but they still bother me.

And maybe sometimes some people may have driving voices that might make them do it and then it's a bit weird because the person's not really in control.

No I don't think it for attention... just talking about means the thought has crossed their mind some way or an other.

My dr. calls it passive suicide behavior

I think people are on the edge already and it's a scream for help because honestly they really don't want to end it. But don't know how to help themselves..

This is my take on the suicide attention seeking thing. I think if people are in pain and are thinking about it and are taking to people about it, they don't really want to do it. They want some attention, sure, because they need it and we should give it to them. But in my experence the ones who say it out loud to people are the ones who aren't serious about killing themselves. But the ones who DON'T talk about, who don't ask for any attention, the ones who don't reach out for help are the ones who go through with it. They are the ones who are serious about ending their lives.

I agree Abnoba. I mean if you are dead set on ending your life and you no one can change your mind, then why the heck would you tell anyone?!

honestly....I would like to believe that anyone who posts suicide threads here are looking for someone to change their minds and make them feel better. I hate to think of people doing it just to get replies for just the attention of it.

I think it's sad to when people post here about suicide but I think we need to pay attention because it is a cry for help. And we need to hear it.

Most of the time, around here anyway, its just for attention. But in real life, maybe not so much. I was 20 when I was diagnosed wirh clinicle depression. Thanks to my close girlfriend(she understood I wasn't myself. I atteped poorly at suicide) but thank god I did cry out for something. I got my diagnoses and got treated. YES!

Suicide attempt as only an attempt are not purely seeking attention. But being just an attempt ends up being seeking attention most much deserved attention.

Oh, if you are asking the question then to some extent you are most probably suicidal.

I think some are genuine and many are attention seeking, which is a need all of its own, but it's not fair to trigger and/or worry other members if not sincere.

seeking attention? i dont really think so.. trying to make others wake up and realize whats goin on is probably it..either way they should all be taken seriously.
