Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
humungously missing the point.
If you're dead, that's it for you. sure No work. No toothache, no need to go to the toilet. Hey. No stubbed toes ever again. great. Totally worth it. right?
Well, if you say so.
Me? I think differently. I think of how unlikely it was that I would ever get a shot at existence. How rare was the chance that put one sperm and one egg together at one moment in time after a linear progression of billions of years that was going to create me, and not some other person.
And I think not only that, but I wasn't born into ecuador, or singapore, or ghaza or sudan. I wasn't born on a rubbish dump, sniffing burned plastics for a living. I wasn't born and thrown straight into a dumpster to die. I wasn't born in the middle ages where I could contract scabies, and smallpox, and the plague.
No. I got lucky. I got born in such a way and in such a place that I have things like anaesthetics, clothes, dental care, a place to live. A job.
So if I were to take those odds, that special, special gift, and flush it down the loo and disappear myself just so that I didn't have to work for a living or have emotional problems, do you know what I would consider myself to be?
An absolute idiot. A card carrying, helmet wearing, short bus riding idiot.
So I want to tell you there is hope in getting out of this. It may not happen overnight but it will. Taking baby step each day help, telling yourself don't stop moving forward however difficult it is. 1/2 step each day is better than not moving. You might wanna consider seeing a counsellor or a therapist, or even talking to someone whom you can trust talking to them about your condition helps. Being able to vocalise your inner thoughts can help to put things in their respective places and help you get perspective. Hope this helps and press on! Praying for you!
