Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

My mother died on December 27, 2013. I was her sole caregiver for the past 5 years. When my mom died, my stepsister moved into the house (without asking) and took over. She brought a 5 month old Mastiff into the house with her. He's destroyed the house! My stepsister has never liked me and has tormented me since we met, when I was only 5 years old! My stepfather has dementia. I lived in that house for the past 9 years, and my stepsister made my life Hell, especially recently. She exhibited psychotic, cruel and horrible behavior toward me. She threatened my dog (a small Pomeranian) and then told me that when she became her fathers POA, she was going to raise my rent. Then she changed her mind and told me she was going to evict me. She has no ability to do that, but she made living in that house totally unbearable. I had to leave and take my dog and cat with me. I've been away from that house for the past 9 days. I now have my pets being taken care of by PetNet, a service offered to those that are eligible, through the Humane Society. They'll care for my pets for 30 days. I'm in contact with the Hospice Social Worker (that still works with me from when my mom died), and also I see a therapist. I've been in touch with the County's Coalition to prevent Homelessness and they directed me to a Homeless Shelter, where they have case managers who help you get employment and/or housing. I'm on Disability and cannot work. I was a nurse for 26 years, but have multiple chronic pain conditions. I'm at a Hotel now and stayed with a friend of a friend for a couple of days, but I can't afford to stay in a Hotel any longer. I'm headed for the Homeless Shelter and I'm scared to death!!!!! I miss my mom. My mother knew I was going to have major trouble with my stepsister, but nothing could have prepared me for how cruel and horrible my stepsister has treated me. She's dangerous! The Social Worker and my therapist told me NOT to go back to that house, even to get some of my things. I've made the Attorney in charge of my stepfather's and my moms Estate, aware of my stepsisters behavior and threats made to me.
My "friends" have all abandoned me and I'm so alone. Maybe they were afraid I'd ask to stay with them. I don't want to be a burden to anyone. I do need support though. I'm totally alone and terrified of what will happen to me. I need people to talk to...or people to talk to me. I'm just so afraid, and I'm in awful physical pain 24/7. I can't imagine having to sleep (or live) in my car. I have no other family.
ANY support, encouragement, suggestions, and/or words of comfort would be Greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much,
Kathy

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I'm so sorry. I wish I could so more. I will be praying your situation turns around as soon as possible. Please keep us updated.

Can you pursue any legal recourse, maybe start with going to the police and reporting the threats, then getting a solicitor of your own to see what options you have.
Just because someone has power of attorney doesn't mean they can act like an asshole.
Did she kick you out or did you leave I mean, who legally owns the home If you have legal rights go back home, stay in your room and call the police if she cuts up. when you are forced to be around her. I mean everything she does. There is something called an illegal eviction.
This really pisses me off. I have seen it often, the kid takes care of the ill parent gets kicked to the curb in the end.!
Amen Blue Yonder.
From what I hear, shelters are dangerous. Be careful, don't let them steal you blind. You have to be very careful. I don't know, I never used one, have been awful close though. My life now is not right but it beats the shelter's I have seen. Be careful, I will keep you in my prays/
I would call the police every time she did anything and animal control if she threatened my dog.
time to get tough,
don't let her take advantage and walk all over you,
what does the will say,
get free legal advice,
do you have a pension or money coming in at all,
disability,
because you must make a home the priority but after that
work on getting what is rightfully yours.
When someone dies, even with one single dollar, all the hounds and dogs and scum etc seem to come out for the wake.
It is just disgusting.
People have no dignity or any civility.
What the dead person wanted should be abided by.
We will all have to face our maker one day and I sure hope he has it all written down.
