Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I don't know what changed or why, but a week ago I couldn't get off the couch due to depression and chronic pain for the last 6 years. This last week, I have been Gung ho working on my yard and the outside of my house. I have spent $1000 just bringing it back up to par. I still have a ways to go, i'M putting in new flower beds and adding onto my sprinkler system. I'M paying a friend who is between jobs to help me. I should have everything done before the heat gets here and then I will take a toothbrush to the inside. I'M pushing myself through the pain, and my self esteem is soaring! God I hope this keeps up! I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

But hey! Great to be getting things done isn't it? Enjoy!
I do cut grass and that is set for tomorrow sometime....
Big hugs!!

Again, I'm really happy that you are feeling so wonderful and I truly hope it lasts a very long time! Hugs
I think you've cracked the egg, basically. i think sometimes we're down because we're down. And our homes reflect that, and we get into a downward neverending spiral.
You've broken this spiral and are going in the other direction, and that's giving you energy whereas going down was sapping it. You've unlocked your energy.
I think having a horrible home sucks life away, having a nice one gives it. I think you've had a mental breakthrough about ignoring physical pain if you want anything done (I had to do this) and I think basically that you're on the mend.
DON't let yourself get exhausted however. because exhaustion and depression go hand in hand. Pace yourself, and enjoy time as you go with the garden.
Gardening's incredibly good for me, at least, in terms of healing and keeping positive.
