Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I feel your pain as I also suffer from major depression, general anxiety and major panic attacks. I recently just got out of the mental hospital and they put me on both Lexapro and Lamictal. This combination seems to work for me. If you ever need someone to talk to, I am also lonely and depressed.
I was first diagnosed in early 2000's but nothing worked. Eventually found out i had a hormone problem (body wasn't producing enough testosterone) so after starting HRT i was able to go off all the medications that disabled me.
It wouldn't hurt to ask the docs to run a hormone panel on you to see if there is something there. It is a simple blood panel.
May not apply to your situation but i know how horrible those pills can be esp Effexor. That med made my brain zap every time i moved my head.
I hope it gets better for you and we are here to help :)
1. Do the non-medicinal things: yoga, exercise, good nutrition, keeping busy, create goals, smile, get good sleep, talk with friends therapy.
2. Work on positivity, daily affirmations, etc.
3. For medication, if you're going to do it, follow the program.
A question in return, what do you find is productive for family members.
