im getting more and more stressed as the time draws near for my psychologists appointment for work. my employer is sending me to health quest which is an independent body of medical professions who can make recommendations to employers about adjustments needed to working conditions to include employees with an illness. they can also find me unfit to continue working.
the only reason im being sent is because i told a colleague i had been diagnosed with atypical borderline personality disorder (i dont have the typical temper or rages) and she went and told my superior i had 'split personality disorder' and she was concerned i wasn't getting the right treatment as it was a very serious condition. my superior then went and told my boss who hasnt even spoken to me in months and on her say so is sending me for a psych examination. what the?
there are a number of reasons why i am so stressed. 1) its in the city a long way from me. i cant even go to the local shops without having a panic, although a friend is coming with me.
2) there are a lot of very private things relating to my condition that i am not sharing with anyone else. it was hard enough to tell my own counsellor.
my fear is that i only have 2 choices, arrive in a complete panic or so drugged up i dont know my own name.
i have been coping with work as it is predictable and familiar but last year i had a lot of time off and that is another reason why im being sent. im suffering depression and anxiety, common in people with BPD and that is my main problem, not the BPD a i must have had that for many years and have coped ok.im getting better everyday but not fast enough according to the work 'timetable'. i am much, much better than when the referal was made 9 weeks ago. but i dont think i can cope with all these uncertainties. i have a lot of support from others in authority whoi have gaureteed me that they will not let me lose my job or be found unfit to work.
does anyone have any experience in this area? or advice to offer?

Can you only take half a dose for your meds? So you can feel a little calmer but still able to focus. Tell them your condition isn't affecting your work this year and you are being treated. You can be honest but I don't think you have to absolutely tell them your private issues. Good luck hun xo

I just want to support you I have BPD also, Maybe this will be a good thing. Maybe they will offer classes or support groups that may even help. So try not to worry about the unknown. Love Faith
