Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

So I finally had an intake with a therapist yesterday, she seemed like she understood and had a handle on my situation. She said that she was available to meet after work between 4-6 P..M. Seemed fine and then when I went into the portal to schedule.... there are no appointments available for another month. It was different from what she said, that she had evening availability Mon-Thurs which is what I typically do. I texted her about it and she said she would get back to me, and she was unsure of her schedule at this time.... thing is I thought we worked out availability beforehand. Odd. So I don't know, I really want to find someone who is actually available and it's not super hard just to set up an appointment. Also, I came to find out she operates out of the same office as the therapist who sent me home crying a few weeks ago because they could not get their billing straightened out. I guess she is just in there because her office got flooded. There is no reception in that office and the check in is very cumbersome, a whole app you have to download and work through, and no bell or anything, so no one knows if you are even there. That seems a little awkward, but she said they are not in that office anymore, so IDK we'll see.
I had another potential therapist who might have been a possibility, who was going to get back to me about insurance, they had not, because they hadn't verified my benefits, and all the sudden I get a text message at the end of day Friday at 5 PM. saying to come in to my appointment Saturday and if it's not covered it will be cash pay....I never made the appointment and I could not attend. I kind of panicked because no show charges can be really high. They kept kind of insisting that I come in and work out a cash pay; I had to set a boundary with them already and say, sorry, I just can't move forward with the practice, I can't be potentially held responsible for appointments that I never made. They apologized and had a chat with the counselor, who I guess is in training. Well OK I appreciate the apology but that is too hard, it creates scheduling and logistic chaos for me.
As far as the neurologist and treating the migraines, I still don't know. I got an strange call from my former doctor's office. It was odd, they called me to warn me that they could not in good conscience recommend me to this doctor and that he was not professional. I sort of determined that in my first interactions with them anyway. I got different appointment with someone else, and did my research on him, however the reviews are quite bad and the complaints consistent- that he treated patients with contempt, and their symptoms were ignored and untreated, One was even going to sue him. so, I think I'm going to cancel that one and just keep looking. The one dr. I got in the meanwhile is nice but only treats seizure and just won't respond to repeated attempts to submit the prior authorization, the pharmacy called him four times. I've been without treatment for going on three months and the migraines have come out of remission. I woke up with some symptoms this morning. This is an awful lot of calls and effort I don't understand why this is so hard.
