Hello-
I joined this forum in 2007 after I was discharged from the military for depression. I have had many doctors and many medication changes but I am still not functioning. I get out of bed everyday about noon and spend the rest of the day in front of the tv. I hate my life and I don't want to be like this anymore. Every night I go to bed and vow I am going to get up in the morning and be productive but I never make it very far. I am still seeing a psychiatrist and therapist for help but I am not doing as well as I want to. I can say that at least I am out of the bed now and not just staying bed anymore. Has anyone made it to functioning or does anyone feel this way.

Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ. Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...

I'm semi-functioning. I am not where I want to be, but it not as bad as I could be either. Heh.
One thing I find that helps is creating a small goal that would be easy for you to achieve. Something that is easy, but makes you feel like you did something. Perhaps you could choose to walk for 10 minutes, or make the bed, or dust a table. Try to do your one goal each day. It will help build your confidence and make you feel like you can do something. Then when your confidence is built you can add another small goal to do each day. And keep slowly adding goals until you are doing more and more.
Another tip is to write down your goals each day on an index card. It is a good reminder and you feel a sense of accomplishment to check off a goal that was met.
Hope that helps.
Along with that I am on disability and trying to finish a schooling program (it's not going real well but I am still at it)
