Hi all I think I am depressed. Taking care of my very ill husband everyday. He has severe copd. I dont want to go to the doctor so thought I would try St. Johns Wort. Anyone have experience with it?

This is not for me. I read it can cause high bp.

You might try Valerian Root. I used it for quite some time and it worked for me. I don't know if it has any effect on BP or not. You can research it and see but, it did work for me.

It has little effect if any on Depression. You are MUCH better off seeking traditional medical treatment.

I don't know if you take prescription meds or not, but if you do, avoid St. John's Wort at all costs-- It can have very bad effects on you if the two are used simultaneously. And even if you don't, please exercise the same amount of caution when considering taking it as you would a prescription med. Just because something is over the counter or "natural" does not mean it can't have a negative effect in the human body. These are all chemicals, whether naturally or syntactically derived. Please be careful.

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery).
