Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I've hit rock bottom. Plain and simple. I don't know what to do besides checking into the hospital tomorrow.
I reached out to a crisis counselor and I was directed here. Within the last few weeks, I've come to terms with my self diagnosis of anxiety and depression. It's time for me to be diagnosed by a professional.
The only reason I haven't seen anyone is because money is tight. I've been unemployed for three months. I have insurance but I'd still be responsible for co-pays after sessions.
My daily functionality is limited. I just need help. I'm nervous about the process of being admitted. Not 100% sure of the entire process (what to anticipate).
I can't keep going like this. I've heard how much therapy and possibly medicine helps many. I want to experience a type of normal again.
I need to hear from you all. If I check myself in, what should I expect? How long will I be there? What would be my restrictions? Have you ever checked yourself in?
Share your experience of therapy/medication and how it has changed your life (positively or negatively).

She helped me a great deal. Then years later I was given the name of a clinic that specializes in anxiety disorders. The therapist and the psychiatrist there also were very helpful to me.
Money is tight, hospitalization costs lots of money, even with insurance. I was suicidal and ended up in a mental ward, it was horrible and it wasn't my idea. It was scary and boring at the same time. I never want to end up there again. We ate crappy food, watched a lot of t.v. and colored. There were counselors who talked to us as a group about the basics in life. I hated every moment of being there.
Antidepressants have helped me. I think a visit to a general practitioner would be money well spent. They can prescribe antidepressants. Tell the dr about your situation and maybe he can get you started on some meds. I co-pay for a dr's visit and a prescription will be hundreds less than a hospital stay.
Hang in there and never give up!
