Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I have some suggestions for those with depression. First, I do not pretend to be excellent, life is challenging, and I make more than my share of mistakes and have my share of problems. I just write because I am trying to help and whatever my challenges, I am a person who is trying to make the world better, at least some of the time.
1. Write some suggestions when you are in a good place. Try to write the blueprint about how to address your challenges in life when you are in a good place, and hope you can follow them when you're not.
2. Recognize limitations, first of whatever place you are in. They may be financial, family, or otherwise. Make the commitment to do what you can do, with your situation. Perhaps your mother or father is difficult, accept them as they are, realize changing them is hard, but you can control how you respond and interact. Mother is hyper-critical, you realize that this is part of her background, avoid her particularly when she does get critical and make the commitment that you will not guided by her perceptions.
3. Address mistakes in a sensible fashion Yeah we do make mistakes. Make a point of recognizing, identifying how you could have responded or acted better, consider what overall lessons can be learned, consider writing them down, and go on. Don't ponder endlessly about your mistakes for we all make them.
4. Do your best in life and sometimes luck will even out. I was I think a nice person but bullied. My son was fortunate to have a wonderful child and seem to have very good luck and as a parent you want your children to be happy. So do the best you can and the luck portion may even out in the long run, though you might not see it in the short run.
5. Medication l am not saying this will substitute for counseling or medication; there are just ways I think are helpful to look at things.
