It would be a very good idea to see a Psychiatrist for a current Diagnosis. There are also many new gen. medications that can help with Anxiety, Depression, Social Anxiety that don't have as many of the debilitating side effects that meds used when you were 14 would have.

What helped me most was working customer service jobs in town far enough away that nobody knew me.
At first I had to sort of develop an alter ego to deal with people, but after awhile I was able to express myself and function without worrying that people were going to judge me or tell me I couldn't act a certain way. Those strangers never met me before so I could act however I wanted.
Particularly as a counter girl, then later a bartender. Customer service jobs like cashiering are great to help you break social anxiety.
This nervousness disorder can prevent people from contributing fully in life.
Some tips for avoiding it in social life
Remember, saying no will give you the equivalent result each time. Saying yes, yet worrisome, means you’re taking a chance and living your life.
It’s easy to overlook that no one is perfect when we live in a domain that aims to achieve perfection.
