...the summer job hunt. Always a challenge.. always a stressful ordeal.... and that is in a normal year.

Last year, I was unable to secure full time employment for the summer.

This year.. I am DETERMINED to find, not only FULL TIME work, but DEGREE RELEVANT work.

I graduate next year and I am really uncomfortable with the idea of graduating with no degree relevant work experience.

So wish me luck!!

I sent out 64 resumes today - I suppose that`s a good start.......

also, the government of Canada often has summer employment opportunities, don't forget to check out www.jobs.gc.ca, they have a student section.

Great advice Fairiedust!

I always make use of jobbank.gc.ca - its such a wonderful resource!!
Will be making an appointment soon to speak with career services at my school. I`ve also signed up for JobLink, which is an online job bank hosted by the universitys career services which allows employers to post jobs that are just for students or that they are willing to hire students to do, and also allows students to post resumes which will also be included in resume packages which some employers request. Its pretty cool. However, so far there has been nothing posted relevant to my degree on the JobLink, but I check back regularly.
I search jobbank.gc.ca pretty much daily during this time of year and about monthly throughout the rest of the year.
I also use abjobs.ca, careerbuilder.ca, monster.ca, and working.ca... lol

Can ya tell I am REALLY determined?

Oh.. and I am going to drop in to see my old employment counselor at the Youth Employment Center later this week too.. he worked with me last year when I was trying to find work.
And they hold a student job fair in April that I also plan to attend if I haven`t secured anything by then.
