Not even sure if this us the right group to be in. I have no suicidal thoughts at all. It's me afraid of my husband taking off again.

Allow me to go on. 18 years ago my husband took off leaving the kids and I alone with no money, no food, no nothing except a lot of bills he didn't want to cope with. After 7 days he comes back looking half dead cause he had been staying out in the woods. Well just the first of this week it happened again he left this time he was only gone a day. He had once again left behind his wallet, his phone, his keys. Everything and once again took off on foot. Said he sat in the woods and thought but wasn't planning on coming back this time. So here I was all tore up. He has called the 800 help line but I feel he's just saying and doing things I want to hear. He's 54 years old.

When he was 15 years old his brother was killed by a drunk driver. His mother she really screwed him up in the head after his brother passed. Both of them should of gone for help then but they never did. His mother passed a year ago.

He says he knows he needs help but he won't go get it. Just says he will get on vitamins and they will help.

Since he has come home this time my insides just feel like their shaking. I'm afraid to let him out of my sight. I'm afraid he's going to do this again. I'm afraid he's just telling me what I want to hear. What do I do? I don't sleep good I hear every move he makes. I just don't know what to do no more.

That was a suspensions as well. When he came back he was nasty dirty, sun burnt, he actually looked like someone who lived on the streets. Drunk? Hell I could of handled that but he doesn't even drink, do drugs or smoke. They said he had a nervous break down. I still question this. The thing I'm having trouble dealing with is he said it would never happen again. And I had forgiven him years ago. Yes it took a very long time to forgive him.
When he gets home tonight after supper I do plan on having a heart to heart talk with him, cause I know I can't keep going on like this

it sounds to me like he is quite sick and needs help. i don't think this is the time to be thinking and talking about divorce.

I am sorry you are going through this. Your husband is the only person that can help himself. He obviously needs to seek professional help. But if he is unwilling, there is nothing you can do about it. Focus on taking care of yourself. I think it would be a good idea to seek counseling for yourself. Take care.

omg divorce? no. Just send him on a boat cruise for a month. You can't get an old school guy to 'talk about his feelings' at an hour a week to some random stranger. It's not in their makeup.

Send him fishing. But honestly. Divorce is your last go, not your first. Send the bastard fishing, hunting, boating, whatever. A holiday. Long enough for him to have to uncover and bubble it all up. he's got teh lid back down, but 3 months off will make it pop. What you actually have in the future that I see is his retirement, because the lid will come off when he retires. And you both need to hope it's all empty in there by then or he'll crash and burn. :)

I am divorced now after 23 years of marriage... and divorced for 8. Sad as it is... I would rather be alone. Its too much work to raise a child that never grows.. Sorry if that sounds harsh... I just feel much more peace in a world that is already hard to live in... I don't believe in divorce either..but got one anyway !

We've been doing a lot of talking and he's finally talking to me bout things. I'm sure there's still a lot bottled up. Yes, we are going to work on things. I did tell him one more episode, one more lie, etc. I will be fine and he said he understands. So we'll see how it goes. I just know I still love him with everything I am ❤️
And Bridgie you have been the best
