Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
(This worked for me in the interim: One thing you can do for yourself now is to sleep on your side, or on your back with two pillows elevating your shoulders and head up at an angle so your tongue/pallet/throat doesn't close.)
Basically during the sleep study they are going to hook up monitors to your body . And then you go to sleep. They will then review the data and determine if you need something like a CPAP.
31 disturbances in 5 hours is nothing. Given what you discussed, I don't think you should trust the Droid app.
I was having 60+ disturbances a minute and my symptoms were like yours.
As you said, I was tired all the time. No matter how much I slept, it didn't help.
I feel asleep at my desk at work. (Lucky I didn't lose my job). I knew I had to talk to a doctor when I found myself falling asleep driving down the freeway.
I also have a brother that has sleep apnea and went through the test. He now wears the contraption to keep him breathing correctly while he is asleep. It causes severe snoring, at least in men. I had to fall asleep first or he would keep me awake. Sometimes I would have to sleep in another room. During the sleep study they will evaluate how often you stop breathing in your sleep, how much snoring if any, you do, and how you feel the next morning. I'm really glad to hear that you're going to have the test done. I am not trying to scare you, I promise, I'm just being honest as to what sleep apnea does. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. Good luck and let us know how the test goes.
