Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Trying to get a Person with Depression "off their meds" is a recipe for Disaster. You can't bounce on and off psych meds, their not meant to be taken PRN.
You may not like that your sister has to take medication to treat her Depression, but its her life and she's the one who has to live her life the best she can and in order to do that she'll need meds.
Depression cannot be treated with holistic treatments, its a matter of changing, resetting and equalizing brain chemistry and that takes medications.
Or a combination of all the above!
Again, it is my conclusion (and I am not a medical person) that brain chemistry issues are quite likely going to require medication. Experiences may benefit from medication, but are going to require therapy in order to let the person resolve them.
It takes a qualified medical person to make the proper diagnosis, and it is often team work by both mental health care professionals and medical health care professionals. Getting the proper diagnosis is critical since different conditions benefit from different meds.
Has your sister been fully evaluated?
I agree with the others, it sounds like your sister has some life experiences that have hurt her deeply.
