Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I know he hurt you but just remember you had the rest of the group behind you.
Don't let it keep getting to you. Don't set yourself up by answering her texts. Remember, it shows her bad character, not yours. Sorry this happen to you.
As for the group experience, that sucks big time. I know just how you feel, too. It happened to me once in an HIV support group for women. I was talking about my fears about all the meds and my blood tests, etc. And then this other woman pipes up about how I "scared" her or something. I felt like I was being chastised and told not to express how I really felt.
But now, looking back on it, I see how we need to let other people take responsibility for THEIR feelings. If they have a problem with something we say, that's THEIR problem to work out in the group, or with their therapist. It's not OUR fault they have that reaction. The best thing that you or I could have said in our respective situations is, "I'm sorry you felt that way. I hope you're able to resolve those feelings." Or something like that.
It's a hard lesson, to learn to take ownership of our own feelings and to realize other people's comments are their problem, not ours. I don't think I've completely learned that lesson, to be honest.
Anyway, I'm really sorry you went through that. You won't be judged here. {{{{hugs}}}}
