Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am not a naturally positive person. I was forlorn and beaten down for years. I can't even believe I made it through but I did. Sometimes I can't believe that now but I still do make it through. I cheerlead myself because I must to keep the floating peace peace that comes in and out of my life. I want to invite that peace. I had to learn skills and still need alot of support thru therapy and thank god this board.
I ask for help from my higher being when I have to do something that is hard for me. I can't do it alone. I ask for tolerance and acceptance of the moment. I stay away from trying pray for my illness to leave because that is not reality. I say " a thought is just a thought" when negative thoughts are generated and flung into my conscious mind. I say " I have made it this far I can make through today...or I will do just what works to get me thru this moment". Or I will say " if the other people can do it who have it worse than me I can do it". Or "I am a valid person and my feelings are valid".
Maybe this will help you. Take care and I wish you the best.
I get back up in that boxing ring and I fight fight fight fight fight to stay strong and not break.
You have no idea the conversation I just had, but it was a tough one with my significant other.
Because I have written everything out, journaled and processed my feelings, I am stronger, and NO ONE is going to take my strength away from me.
No one will steal from me the strength and yes, sorrow, that I've earned.
I do self talk sometimes... It helps...
