Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

In Reality, emotion is just "energy in motion" - underneath all the chaos is peace (believe it or not!) Unfortunately, most of us, or all of us with mood disorders were not taught how to deal with difficult emotions, or, like in my case, taught that you were "bad" for expressing a certain feeling.
Anything pushed down is like a corkscrew being held under the water and it takes tremendous energy to hold it down. That's why relaxation techniques work - for awhile, at least, you;re not fighting with yourself!
Also, another thing that I found that if you give a "name" to an emotion - it tends to make you feel guilty for having it! EVERYBODY experiences emotions, it's part of being human. But, love patience, kindness, are also emotions and they ride on top of the painful ones.
I do this sometimes and it helps - I picture an opening or window where I feel the discomfort. Then i visualize the emotion leaving through the opening (I picture butterflies - or like the movie 'TheGreen Mile" whatever that was that came out of his mouth!)
And, try (thiis is hard for me - but I'm working on it) to accept love into your being. When you actually allow yourself to 'feel" it - it can melt away a tremendous amount of pain. if you don't have access to loving people right now or can't imagine that - just think of all the love given on this site - people sharing, lovingly supporting and uplifting each other. THAT is reality - and when you feel it, even for just a moment - you come back to yourself and know that all is well.
I hope you feel better - we all deserve peace and love -
may you experince some this evening -
