Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
People going off their meds creates the most amazing urges and compulsions. People shoot up movie theatres. People kill themselves and others. People stab their best friends to death thinking they're zombies. This is a very serious issue, going off psychoactive medications.
If you know your mind isn't working, then you have to resist your mind. You know this is temporary. you know this is a chemical imbalance.
So you know you're being fed a line. You have to remember that.
How do you think that guy felt when he came back on his meds and realised he'd killed his best friend? Or the one that shot up the batman movie? Or any number of ones - the one that shot up the primary school and killed his own mother?
You CAN'T stop cold turkey. All of the systems you have in your brain for processing emotions no longer work. And it's sudden. you misfire. You can easily become psychotic.
Go to bed, lie there, get through the time without doing anything you'll regret next week when you're mentally all there again. Okay? In the morning you either phone and get them to send a prescription to your chemist to get filled, or you get out there and go and get a refill. Even if you don't see your doctor you still have to get that refill.
You don't know what you will do that you will regret if you don't get that refill as a matter of urgency. These aren't vitamins you've been taking: these things affect the way your brain works.
Get a refill asap. This is not a drill...
xx
You'll be fine. Knowing it's a trick of the brain is half the battle. Learning to say 'piss off brain' is the other half. :)
PLEASE READ THIS TO THE END SWEETHEART :)
There's just a single penny. It's on the sidewalk. Everyone is buzzing around, men in suits talking about charts and ratings through their ear pieces, women in their coats carrying their coffees and rushing to catch that lonely cab to their extremely stressful jobs. But you, you're that penny. You sit there, alone, watching everyone else go by.
Nobody seems to notice you do they? A kid, shuffling in his pocket for what change he can scrape together to get a hot chocolate for his little sister, walks by. He drops a few dimes and nickels and scurries to pick them up. As he sits there and counts out his change guess how much he still needs to get the hot chocolate: one penny.
And to his luck, there you are. Right in front of him, a miracle for his freezing baby sister. He is so happy to have found you. You are what he needed to help warm up his cold sibling after their long day out in the cold street. You're a blessing, and he's going to march to his sister with the story of how he was ALMOST short a penny to buy her that drink. He's going to tell her how excited he was to stumble across that one penny.
You are that penny. Remember? You're that beautifully unique individual who may have been unrecognized by some but so so very appreciated by others. You're special to people. It's very hard to see that sometimes, but if everyone appreciated you the way you'd like to be appreciated it would make these moments feel less special. You mean the world to someone out there, and you are the lucky penny in a world full of busy people and cafes with hot chocolate.
Just keep your head up and please just understand exactly how unique and special you are. Be proud of it and look forward to tomorrow. That therapy session isn't going to take care of itself. :) it needs you to complete it! I'm proud of you as a person, I don't think you hear it enough. Best wishes! :) things will look up for you.
