My husband and I were just about to go to the movies to celebrate my birthday. My SIL called. My brother, my only surviving immediate family member, seized and could not breathe. The local ER found a mass on his brain. He is being transported to a better facility. I am scared to death. I  am waiting to here back from my SIL as to whether visiting is discouraged by doctors right now. But I think I would feel better if I went anyway. And I am family.

Go, even if you can't see your brother yet. I'm so sorry this terrible thing happened to your brother, poor guy. Prayers for all of you.

Omg, I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through. I pray that your brother will be ok, and that you and your family will be also be able to get through this ordeal.

Yes, by all means go! As Robin said, even if you can't see your brother just yet you can see your SIL. Just being with family at times like this can work wonders for all of you.

Aside from this, good to hear from you! Sorry it is over bad news though.

He is alert and talking. Tests being done but doctors don't think it's critical that the mass be removed. Doctors deciding on a course of action. I have to be honest here. I have been ill.....obviously nothing on this level, and the doctors treating me are pretty disappointing. So I don't have a lot of faith in the medical profession right now. I can only hope this bunch knows what they are doing

ok. The mass in on his brain sheath and most likely benign, but it will need to be removed and that requires going through his skull. I will not relax until he is totally out of the woods.

Thanks everyone. I just came home from visiting him. He seems to be doing ok. Me.....I'm a nervous wreck. Thanks for the birthday wishes. With all that was going on, it was just another day. But it's ok.....my thoughts were with my bro.

Jim's surgery is April 14. We have not always seen eye to eye....but I have to say I'm impressed at how well he seems to be handling this
