SO I have been reading about SAM-e as a treatment for depression - mine is situational at the moment so I am hoping this will help before I get any worse.

Anyone tried it or any comments.

I haven't tried it. Its terribly expensive, and the dosage used for mild-moderate is very high. Will it be effective? Maybe, but if you're more than mildly depressed, then probably not. You also need to worry about the fact that so many supplements are adulterated: are you really getting what you're paying an arm and a leg for?

My antidepressant medication is safe, effective and free.
Can't beat that.

what do you use wet noodle?

In the UK SAM-e is about 16 for 30 days worth.

I use it to supplement my antidepressants. Its good stuff but can cause mania so I have to watch out for that. Worth a try if you are desperate and have tried all the antidepressants in town.

Ive been trying it since I first posted this thread.

I noticed a difference after a few days.
I felt lighter and more confident, less anxious and not so much doom and gloom.
It does give me a dry mouth but thats ok.

Im still feeling terrible though and keep crying all the time.
I am trying self-help but you know its so damn hard.
I have some ( 3 months 150mg) Wellbutrin but they don't prescribe it for depression in the UK only for smoking cessation so if I did get going on it I would have to buy it privately from U.S.

anyway I would say SAM-e has helped.
