Hello,
I've been posting for some time about the pressing need to get a new job. I started with a new therapist last week also, which was really helpful. I'm glad I got another one as the previous one seemed disengaged.
It has been total chaos where I work. I was out sick for a couple of days and when I was gone, someone brought a gun. Now they are frisking/wanding everyone for weapons at the door.
I'm getting a little of topic here. So, I received a communication from a recruiter about connecting me with a job that will be in a completely different field paying at least 10,000 more. They have to be pretty interested because I have an appointment Monday around noon to submit I-9 documents for work verification. I also have an interview late in the afternoon.
My dilemma is that I will need to take the day off. Not really a big deal, but things are so bad currently that there is no coverage where I work, and other people are going to be furious that I am taking a personal day because my students will be in their classrooms. Everyone is mad all the time about everything and taking off a Monday is this horrible thing...
Here is the problem, I have a really bad feeling something is going to go down and I will miss my appointments on Monday and this whole thing will be blown if I try to keep this appointments from work. My work verification has to be done over video and we can't submit copies of the driver's license and SSN card due to legalities. My video appointment starts right at lunch time-but-earlier this week there was some problem and they wouldn't open the doors to let students out. We couldn't get out of the building for lunch on time. Being late to these appointments would blow everything. Not to mention that the Zoom app video is not working on my phone-it is only audio right now and I can't seem to fix it in settings. And it has to be video. Doing it in my office is impossible because people are very aggressive and just burst in. Meetings are not scheduled, management just randomly calls meetings on lunch and after work and compel us to stay.
Furthermore, I couldn't get the actual interview after work, so it will occur toward the last hour of my work day. I have two appointments with the potential new job Monday. I got it cleared with my boss to leave an hour early, but something tells me that things won't go smoothly. I let my co worker next door know as a courtesy that I would be gone an hour early. It's quiet in the afternoons and not much of an issue. Sometimes none of my students for my last class show up at all. When I told her, she exploded like she normally does, saying, "Well don't count on me!" It seems like she is having an emotional meltdown throughout the day all the time, not to mention that there are fights and dramas, and if there is a lockdown, I won't be able to get out of the building. I think I'm going to need to take the day off, and I don't have a medical note because they require one for EVERY. THING. I just need to take the freaking day off so I will be in a quiet place, dressed appropriately with no distractions and ON TIME for these appointments. I may or may not get the job, but I don't want to jeapordize the future opportunity. Will I get in trouble for taking the day off, yeah I might, but I've been complaining constantly about this situation. I have to do something. Even to talk to the recruiter about the position I had to leave to the breakroom and whisper.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Good Luck!
