Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I guess you can say i have CBT'd myself on some things. One was to know when I am going into a Manic phase and learn how to control those impulses. Another was to learn how to catch the depression side and learn how to lessen the damage before I got to deep and did something I wouldn't be able to regret.
Another one that I am starting is based on my education. I make too much to apply for financial aid and myself along with my job combined can't keep me in. I have decided to do self study since I have the resources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQAbMlH6X2g
However, getting started and going is proving to be harder than I thought, but I am pushing myself.
You pretty much have to force it on yourself and over time it becomes easier.
We all must find our own inner peace and joy and it seems pretty much as tending a garden and planting seeds of what we want to grow and taking time to pull the weeds that would take over if given the opportunity. Keeping 'mindfully aware' seems to help me the most as I often want to 'push away' those thoughts and experiences that feel unpleasant but facing what is unpleasant about life and working at making it better has been very helpful. The shared support we have with our DS friends has been the most helpful for me over the long term.
I wish you much luck with CBT!
wynfrith- I was unable to send u a hugs as well, but thank u for ur support. I want to try to find a therapist that is familiar with cbt now rthat i have more info on it.
Re-evaluation of things that have happened to us .. so we gain a wider perspective of it HAS to be a great idea.
I believe that is what CBT does .. and I am all for it.
