Oh nooooo :(

I took lithium in my teens, but I don't recall having hair loss. Though people experience side effects differently. Are you more stressed than usual? I'd mention it to your doc.

Hair loss is a reported side effect of lithium drug use. Lithium is commonly prescribed for bipolar disorder. If you are showing thinning hair or significant hair loss while taking the medication you should report this to your doctor as you may be suffering from lithium toxicity. If this toxicity is confirmed, the physician may reduce the dosage of lithium or prescribe an alternate medication. Other signs of toxicity are diarrhea, nausea, muscle weakness and shakiness.

Yes, .. I have heard of Lithium causing hair loss. Notify your doctor .. right away.

DAMN... No other side effects. When I went to get my hair recolored (get rid of the gray) my beautician mentioned all the hair in the sink. And everyday since my hair is all over in the sink when I brush it..

Looks like I better get an appt... sheesh...

Well, I just made an appt for Wednesday with the Doc...... back to the freakin drawing board.....

no idea bout that stuff, but i take mtx and it has removed most of my hair so i take folic acid and biotin and it has slowed down the rapid removal of hair (except for the hairs growing in my ears and @$$ of course), Even at my advaced age!

According to the site linked to the above - Lithium can cause problems with your thyroid. Low thyroid is associated with hair loss.

Have you noticed any other symptoms that may be associated low thyroid? Like problems with pain in your joints? Weight gain?

Ask your doctor to do a blood test for low thyroid - that might be an answer.

man oh man...... yep.. I already have plow thyroid problems and then adding lithium on top of it, no wonder my hair is all falling out...

Im off the pills until Monday for the doc appt.. I hope I dont have horrible withdrawl symptons..... but I cant risk losing anymore hair... *DOES MY BALD HEAD MAKE MY ASS LOOK FAT?*
