I am pretty certain that heaven cannot be found on a map. It is a state of mind. Jesus said, the kingdom of heaven is upon us. At least, that's what we got after numerous edits and translations.

Hell also is not a geographic location, but a state of mind. The absence of God. It is also described in the Bible as the absence of light. Ego can be seen as opposition of God. Ego is separation from truth/love/god. Basically, you can follow your spirit, which leads to heaven (an enlightened state of mind), or you can follow your ego, which leads to hell (separation from spirit).

Purgatory may be a good metaphor for life on Earth. We spend our lives here in a constant stream of experience and choices to be made between ego and spirit. I believe only love is eternal and everything that results from following ego will eventually fail, but we can consume lots of lifetimes trying to get that lesson through our thick skulls!

If you are a good soul (all souls are good) and love God, you may get to heaven before you die.

Reply 1 very much says it all for me as well, in fact, she says it better than I would have. You are in a safe place I believe so long as you follow the 10 Commandments at least, that is what I endeavour to do, and for the most part, I am able. Look for, and you will find a bright side, just the same as when you look for a dark side you are sure to find such. The choice is yours, and it always will be.

Heaven and hell are both here on earth.

They are chemicals in the brain.

If you believe in love you believe GOD for GOD is love. I am so isolated right now and I am in a lot of pain. I either want to die or spend the holidays in a mental hospital. Tonight I may drink a lot of beer take a moderate dose of xanax and seraquil then call the crisis center. My birthday is monday. Like worf on startrek use to say today is a beautiful day to die. I feel I am totally unloved and a worthless piece of shit. I can`t kill my self. I have live for GOD. Even I don`t feel his love I know he is out there. I have to repent for my sins. If I kill myself right now I may go to HELL. If I live for GOD I will have eternal LOVE. That was the point of the title PURGATOERY. I feel like I am in purgatory. Even that I miserable everyone have a merry christmas and a happy new year.

I do not believe in god, heaven, hell or purgatory. I know how to be a good person without that stuff.

In the Bible it says if you don`t believe in God, God does not believe in you. Without God I think I would be a hitman. If there is no life after death I would not have a problem with killing any one.
