that's what my MOM is SAYING my dad has right now, and she is SAYING that his lung capacity is at 40%. then she started crying and said she couldn't talk now and got off the phone. Then she calls and for some reason my phone does not ring, and I have been trying to call her back and now she won't answer. I looked this up online and the life expectancy after this diagnosis is 3-5 years if what I read is correct. He is to old for a lung transplant. Mom said his lungs are shrinking from scar tissue. She has misled me so many times now in the past that I really don't know what to believe from her anymore. So here I am at work, at an extremely worried, and it may be for nothing, it may be cause she heard that word as a possible diagnosis, but how they can know something like for sure without doing a biopsy I don't know. I can't be of any comfort to her because she just does not like me. She never has, and I have always tried to protect and help her, but she does not like me, and I don't know why. So therefore she has no misgivings about jerking me around emotionally, but my dad is different. He cares about me. When I was 2 years old and busted my head open it was HE who held me at the doctor's office while they put stitches in my head, not her.
I lost my mother 2 years ago to pulmonary hypertention. She was given the 3 to 5 years to live an dmade it ten years. I wouldnt put to much stock into what life expectancy is as it always differes from person to person. Dose your dad have a cell phone or another phone number you can reach him at?
I would try to reach him dirrectly and get the whole story.

This is a pattern with her. She tells me about some appointment he has, then when I call to ask her about it, he's on his death bed but she won't give me all the information then she refuses to answer the phone for the rest of the day. I'm just done,
I cried about it earlier, but I'm done crying, she's gotten all the emotional drama from me she's going to get. If she calls and says he has died, I will have to call the fucking mortician just to make sure, and that's fucking sad.

About a year ago (right about the time mom died) my dad started having me go to his doctor appointments with him. At first I thought it was so he did not have to drive (sometimes the eye appts were such that he could NOT drive himself home), but as time passed I learned that he wanted me involved in his healthcare.
It really helped me understand what he was going through, and it put me in a place where I could speak for his wishes when he could not.
Is there a chance you can go to the doctor with your dad? If your dad wants you there, his word is all it takes. This will allow you to get information from the doctor at the time of the appointment rather than from your mom after the fact.
