Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I was first on prozac that helped really calm my anxiety down to a point that I actually really did think better. Then, after I was calm I couldn't take it anymore because I lost my feelings of who I was all together.
I then went to effexor and that was good. It helped me stay level.
Now, I'm not on anything but probably should be. My social anxiety has worsened severly over the last few years and I really do need to be on something to even it out.
I know that there are die hards out there that insist that you don't need drugs just as there are those that say that you should be on drugs.
All I know is that before I was on a drug plan I'd built myself up into a corner that drugs really did help. But, since... It actually is a choice. There are so many options and like I said...
It's so very individual... I mean, you have such extremes of people that really can only survive on them and then you have people that don't... But, don't see it as a sign of weakness if you do. I definatly did and it lead to me being in a very bad, bad, bad state of mind.
There are also a lot of med programs that are specifically designed to be temporary. That's similar to what I had when I was admitted.
I really hope that whatever you decide that you are able to find what you need to make you feel better. *hugs*
