Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Hugs,
Annie
Some people here are very very private, and others, not so much. It's all about what each person feels comfortable with. DS even suggests that you stay anonymous. I have been here (at this site) for almost 5 years and in that time, I have given out my personal info to a handful of people, however, unless you really feel safe in doing so, don't do it, no matter how well you think you may know someone.
I had one issue with someone who acted in a similar fashion about 4 years ago. She tried to, basically, emotionally guilt me into giving out my personal info.....she obviously didn't know me that well, if she had, she would have known that no one can guilt me into doing a damn thing lol. I gave her a well deserved verbal lashing and that was the last I heard from her.
You did the right thing by using ignore/blocking them.
I hope this one instance doesn't run you off if you need the support. My best to you!
Also a word, there are those who will just sap you emotionally to exhaustion some times with disingenuous intentions,, either way you are trying you heal yourself. Helping others is something to try IF you are up to it but it needs to be well within your stress limits. I wish you sunshine.
Submit an abuse form. There is a link to it at the VERY bottom of every DS page.
Describe the 'problem' .. giving reasonable detail .. and let DS know WHERE the 'evidence' can be found (in your PM inbox, hug book, whatever).
DS will not tolerate what you describe .. so please, learn how to report such things and you will be a great help to keeping this place civil.
Thank you in advance.
Please know that there are so many here that are also vulnerable. I hope that what you've experienced is a rare instance. You certainly don't deserve to feel anxious or inhibited to post.
The majority of members here, I believe are honest, compassionate, and very supportive. I hope that you'll have no further issues.
"Luv troll" or not, it's never a good idea to give out personal information online. You never know who the person hiding behind the computer may be. You're good to be cautious. Anyway, when people try to friend me that I don't know, I "silently" do not accept and they don't really notice that I didn't; I don't say anything to them about it. You did the right thing and you don't deserve creeps insulting you. HUGS
Sorry you experienced this Rac146...!!!!
I have been on DS for a year now, and haven't personally experienced this type of behaviour.
Unfortunately this is the Net, and there will be predators - no matter where, no matter the site...
I agree with others here. Use the 'Report Abuse' link!
xo
Nothing wrong with staying in contact on here. I made a HUGE mistake of giving someone my personal info. and it bit me in the butt. Things are much harder for me here, now. I don't feel safe/secure to post a lot of things.
Don't feel guilty. Those are your boundaries and no one should be making you feel guilty for keeping them. That's what respect is about.
Sorry this happened to you...hope it doesn't scare you off.
I think you made the right decision to NOT hand out your personal info. You just never know....so It's better to play it safe. ....and why can't they just email or talk to you through here anyway? Please don't let that experience and that ONE person represent the rest of us. I'm new on this site & so far, I've met nothing but nice, caring people.
Good for you for standing up for yourself & making the decision that THAT PERSON was NOT going to mess up your way of looking at things...especially your experience on here.
Thanks for sharing! I wish you nothing but POSITIVE things! :)
