Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
My family an I are moving out of this house, and I like a lot the new one but... Now that I see things being moved away from here I'm starting to feel overwhelmed. I'm trying not to relate this to past feelings from traumatic experiences.
So far I have lived in 5 different houses, this will be the 6th one...
The second one was great... too great actually
But we had to move to a smaller one because it was rented; the owner wanted to put it for sale and we couldn't afford to buy it. I know, classic experience but we wer kids so it was a hit anyways.
Now, moving out from the 4th one was worse than hell. Just traumatizing...
We were kicked out by the owners after 4 years for being late on the rent. In the process we lost a lot of stuff; they took away everything they wanted, anything valuable they could choose as a way of payment. We were literally left out in the street, late afternoon, with a bunch of boxes waiting for the trucks to arrive and send our things away to some storage. I was sent to sleep at a friend's so I would't witness all the riot.
Before we found a new place to live we stayed at my aunt's... sharing rooms with her husband and 4 kids.
I went to Spain that year, 2011, for jus a couple of weeks because of the Pope's visit (no, I'm not religious anymore). My family e-mailed me saying that they had found a smaller place we could afford and moved in while I was away. When I came back everything was different, and I didn't have control over my stuff during the process. My mother and sister got to choose what should I keep or throw away.
It was the same year that my depression started to be evident to me, and it haunts me down till now.
House #5
I remember my mother running up the stairs one day, drowning in tears. She said that we were about to lose this house too, close to being kicked out again.
Now
We are in a bad place economically at the moment.
But our grandmother from Chile decided to buy us a new house here in our country. We are finally moving to a place of our own... bigger, nicer, and without worries about rent, which was always an issue.
But I can't help it... The bad feelings are back. I can't stop associating those terrible past experiences to this one, and I'm back to feeling depressed, nervous, anxious, overwhelmed...
I gotta finish packing but it's too painful to do so :(
Sorry this is too long
