Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
My parents are always fighting but today is probably the most horrible one, guests came over the other day and my dad was blabbing to them and lying saying that my mom does nothing to help the kids, saying that she doesn't tell them to read or do good in school and basically saying she's a bad mom and my mom was obviously very hurt about it since that was what she expressed about 5 mins ago, but they were fighting in the kitchen and I was in the living room with my youngest sister who is 5 years old , and we were watching Netflix so I put the volume really loud so she wouldn't hear that they were arguing, but anyways, I got uncomfortable from the yelling so I left upstairs but my two sisters were still in the kitchen defending my mom because everybody knows that my dad doesn't really do much, at least no where near what my mom does for us, she basically does everything, washes our clothes, cleans the house,(my sisters clean the house too,but it's mainly my mom), my mom always cooks for my dad and everyone else she does basically everything for us, and my dad does too but not as much as my mom, hes never cleaned the house once or cooked for anyone or even his own self he just calls my mom or my sisters to do it. he's always out at other peoples houses, I can't even remember the last time he stayed at home to spend time with my siblings or me, before covid. Anyways my mom was yelling and almost about to cry saying that ever since we were young she was doing everything herself and that my dad wouldn't come home until 2-3am and I've never seen my mom cry, so I kind of almost cried when I was listening from my room, and my dad wasn't apologizing he was laughing when my mom said that, and saying it's not a big deal, and I'm kind of worried my dads a narcissist or something but it wouldn't make sense because he doesn't even gaslight us enough, he's rarely there, he has caused trauma to everyone in our family, like we all have to eachother, but i don't think he's a narcissist. But anyways I feel bad for my mother, and father, I think he's depressed so that's why he's always irritated and yelling at us for NO reason, but I still think what he did today was horrible and I think my parents fighting causes problems for me, and everyone in my family. I don't know how to fix this problem, I'm pretty sure I'm the only self aware person in this house who's actively trying to overcome my mental illnesses and trauma, so if I was brave enough I could fix this situation, but it's too hard, still something I am struggling with is shame and being vulnerable. I cannot do it without feeling like I'm going to faint. Anyways I kind of feel hopeless not only about my own depression, but about my whole family's, I'm very worried my parents will have lived a miserable life only filled with trauma and abuse and mental illness and I know I'm going to regret it if I don't fix this situation soon enough so my family can be happy

You have no responsibility for your mom or dad's situation and you cannot "fix" them or their relationship.
