Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi everyone
today is the day I take my mother to see a psychiatrist and see how far into dementia she may have, I can’t wait to get her on the right track back to health and hopefully with medicine this may happen, I was told that even with dementia it’s not going to stop, but with medicine it will help slow it down, she deserves to have a peaceful life, and to enjoy what’s left of it with her love ones ..... including me ( lol ) wish us luck everyone!!!!

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

She used to take disjoint memories and merge them into a single memory. For example, she talked about a pet from my childhood as being part of my dauther's childhood. One day I looked into her eyes and saw incredible pain as she tried to understand us trying to help her re-connect the pieces where they belonged. She believed to her core that she had it right, and her pain was more than I could take.
That was when I realized that it was time to indulge her stitched together memories and go with it. My pain came from knowing that when my children were young they would be able to connect events more correctly as they grew; but mom was only going to get deeper and deeper into memory issues.
And accepting this led me to a much better place.
Gentle hugs, your journey will be hard, but you can manage it.
