If we learn to accept our feelings and be responsible for how we express them, the problem is not that we get angry it is to figure out how to direct it appropriately.
Example: Feeling pent up anger feel like hitting some or erupting a verbal torrent of abuse let it out as soon as possible by hitting your pillow or a punching bag and beat the living hell out of them that is how to remove the feelings of anger or rage properly.
When it is more intense and we feel like wiping some one out, attack a challenging job cleaning your car, attack that dirty oven, chop down that tree, it is better to release the anger as soon as you can so it will not build up it then becomes resentments that are a totally different animal and much harder to deal with later.
This options works quite well learn to communicate your anger. You may not do it gracefully; our words may not be well received. It means facing the issue head on we can feel terrible discomfort called conflict. But the discomfort is replaced by a good feeling we feel empowered and proud we acted and vented on the people we were angry with and it sends the message that we are not an easy target and no longer a doormat.
When we feel anger it is wise to count to 10 before we speak. When it is more intense feeling like rage it is wise to count to 100 if you feel you want to strike out or hit someone forget the counting and leave as soon as possible.
Even people that are usually gentle, easy going you'd never believe what happens when they get angry, they fly in to a rage, there blood pressure seems to double then release a torrent of profanity temper flares, angry words that would hurt more than being hit by a bus that is the nature of the beast. Once they have vented their anger we will notice almost immediately, by the look on the recipients face as they try to reason why the sudden violent angry outbursts!
Everyone gets angry but we do not have to act out the anger in destructive ways. We do not have the right to take it out on others. Now we know this we can try for a calm reasonable communications to negotiate what we both need to resolve the conflict.
As soon as you have done that run as fast as you can to that pillow or punch bag and beat the living shit out of them not the people.
Anger wears us out it is exhausting and painful so we need to release it or it eats us up.
The best thing to do or say when we feel Anger is "Nothing"
