OT/Losing weight

I have needed to lose weight for quite a while-ever since I was diagnosed with diabetes 4 years ago. My doctor recommended it. I managed to lose 15 in the beginning and then stopped trying. Well after a ton of self-talk, and some very astute observations from the life coach, I am ready to get serious.

This is going to be interesting....food is what I turn to for comfort these days. Comfort never came from others....I grew up in a dysfunctional family and entered into a dysfunctional marriage. For a while, my comfort was found in a bottle....something I really do not talk about a lot.

I hope I am prepared for the onslaught of feelings that no doubt will come as I give up my crutch. I am used to huge portions, second helpings, fast food lunches and snacking all evening and weekends. I eat when I am upset, angry, and lonely.

Anyone want to join me?

I would like to dialogue with you about this. I am starting with a personal trainer today, and activating the gym membership my wife got for me. Fifteen sessions with a personal trainer come with the membership. It would be great to have a weight loss partner in DS.

Maybe we can talk?

I am right there with you. I am also a comfort eater. I have managed to lose nearly 40 pounds so far, but kind of let the healthy eating (I refuse to call it a diet) fall by the wayside over the holidays. One of the tricks I found, is to not deprive yourself. If there is something sweet that I really want, I take a small medicine cup, and put whatever I want to eat inside of it. When it is full, and I have had my taste, I'm done.

I am trying to lose weight, too. I gained 15 lbs with my depression, but I have lost 5 of those lbs so far since I started walking. It may be tough at first, but when you first notice some pounds some off it will really motivate you further.

    Many of you know Mr K told me to "shut your mouth" in March 2025 when we took a road trip to Alpena Michigan. Since that time, we have had lots of ups and downs but I have never intentionally hurt Mr K in anyway. And when we first started dating in 2024 he let me know, although he is an engineer by degree, he has an extremely low EQ.  Overall, he is ok (not off the charts nice like other guys in...
