I'm just curious to see who here is planning on getting an H1N1 (aka swine flu) vaccine? Also, who is planning to get the regular seasonal flu shot?
Personally I refuse to be inoculated for the flu - seasonal or swine. My own extremely amateur research leads me to believe that viruses are living organisms, and like any living organism, will adapt to threatening circumstances. Now, the creation of a vaccine for a particular virus is certainly a threat to the viruses survival, and therefore the virus will be forced to mutate in order to survive. I believe (and the keyword here is BELIEVE) that the reason we now have things like the swine flu, and the avian flu from a few years back, is that the ordinary flu virus has been under attack by flu vaccines in recent years, forcing it to undergo major mutations in order to ensure its survival.
This is why I will never vaccinate myself against a flu of any type.
I am also leery of the H1N1 vaccine specifically as details regarding what is actually IN the vaccine have yet to be made public information in any country. This makes me quite nervous, as a certain skeptical part of me thinks that perhaps this is because the vaccine is nothing more than a placebo of sorts intended merely to dampen peoples' hysteria regarding H1N1 that is largely due to media hype...
I've also read, though this is highly controversial, that people who did not receive a seasonal flu shot last year are eighty-something % less likely to get H1N1. Needless to say, I am laughing inside at all the people who said i was stupid for not getting my vaccine last year :)
I'm just wondering where everyone else stands here. I read in the paper this morning that 42% of Canadians say they will not get an H1N1 shot, and about the same percentage of Americans say the same.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
They are saying that this shot has a high mercury count which scares me for all of the children and pregnant women getting it. It was also shown that the great DR.OZ got the regular shot on t.v. but informed the news station that he did it so people would not be scared and he is not getting the H1N1 and neither are his wife and children.
That is like the 3rd doctor (well Known) that I have heard they refuse to take it also because it has just been developed to fast.
It is up to each individual though. We all have the right to choose what we take and put into our and our families bodies.
I've read the nasal spary/mist one is live, the injection is dead. I'll let ya know what happens. I got my very FIRST and ONLY flu shot last year, and BAM, one month later came down with the flu, so ......... ???
This particular strain was only discovered in - what was it, May or June? - I have a hard time believing that in only 5 or so months scientists have managed to decode the structure of the virus and create an immunization for it that has been SUFFICIENTLY TESTED in and out of the lab. It's simply not possible to have done a thorough job so quickly. I'm advising all of my family and friends to avoid the shot - in my view (keep in mind it is a very amateur view and I in no way whatsoever claim to be an expert or even a student of any kind of physical science) the shot is far more dangerous than the small risk I have of actually getting the swine flu. Chances are a good number of us have already gotten the swine flu and gotten over it without ever realizing what it was.
I was sick last week - sore throat, icky stomach, sneezing, irregular bowels.. the works - that could very well have been the swine flu.... very few people actually develop severe symptoms and end up in hospital or dying....
THey dont take into account stress level sleep level, exhaustion depression or anything at all, so I think they are full of beans.
